Why choose a Dental Hygiene Practitioner?

Independent dental hygiene practices offer a personalised approach to oral health care, prioritising the individual needs of each patient. Practitioners focus on preventive care, providing comprehensive cleanings, assessments, and education tailored to the unique circumstances of every client.

With a strong emphasis on patient comfort and well-being, independent dental hygienists create a welcoming environment that fosters open communication and trust. By operating independently, these professionals can provide flexible scheduling options and time to thoroughly address concerns, ensuring that each patient's journey to optimal oral health is both effective and empowering. As champions of preventive care, independent dental hygienists play a vital role in enhancing overall health through professional oral hygiene services and education.

Why Tooth House?

At the heart of this practice is a commitment to providing evidence-based Dental Hygiene care and services that empower individuals to make informed decisions.

Tooth House was started in 2025 by Jess Redlick after completing a degree in Health Science from Thompson Rivers University, and acquiring her Dental Hygiene Practitioner status with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. Jess has 15 years of experience in private clinical practice in the Cowichan Valley and hopes that with the transition to independent practice she will be able to offer her clients a unique one-on-one experience tailored to individual needs.

This small, accessible home-based clinic provides a quiet stress-free environment, without the pressures of a busy general dentistry office. We offer direct billing to insurance and a heated client chair to help you feel at ease throughout your dental hygiene appointment.

The smaller space allows for more ease and comfort for individuals with unique needs such as: families, the elderly, people who my be nervous, and people with disabilities.

If you feel out of place or overwhelmed in your usual dental setting, or prefer a more individualized experience, Tooth House Dental Hygiene may be worth a try.

More about Jess

After working many years in the Cowichan valley I saw the need for more diverse oral health care options for my community. I was always interested in Dental Hygiene Practice and teaching as an option to change up my career as time when on. I hope to help people find ease in maintaining their regular dental hygiene cleanings without the stressful atmosphere general dental practice can sometimes bring.

My home based clinic strives to have a more spa-like feel, and be a place where people don’t feel the usual tension that can happen in typical health care settings. After years of being told “I hate the dentist (or dental office)” by my clients, I decided to try something different, and hopefully bring a product to the Cowichan Valley that people can trust and feel comfortable trying out.

I am a mom to a 10 month old boy and step mom to a teenage girl. My family and I enjoy the outdoors and can often be found enjoying our yard and exploring the valley. I have two German Short haired pointers who love to greet guests when allowed, and a cat named Frankie. I grew up around the Cowichan Valley and am fortunate to have many friends and family here. In my free time I love to spend time in all the unique and beautiful places around Vancouver Island, catching live music around the valley, or enjoying a BBQ at home. I played rugby with CRFC for many years, and recently have been playing flag football with the CWFL.

I hope to share my home and dental hygiene clinic with you, and create an experience that changes your mind about dental cleanings.
